Now Sober Family

When change for your family is the only option.

Now Sober Family Is Here to Help

Vince and Jeanna started Now Sober Family because before finding sobriety on their own, they both dealt with family members who just didn’t get it. They experienced judgment, shame, and guilt that pushed them further into isolation when what they really needed was support and connection. They needed help.

It wasn’t that their loved ones were trying to harm them. They just didn’t know what to do.

Is Someone You Love Fighting Addiction?

Chances are that you have found this page because someone you love has gone through some changes that make you uncomfortable, and you suspect drugs or alcohol may be involved. Those changes may include,

  • Physical: Sleep patterns change, lowered attention to hygiene, weight loss, poor coordination, or dilated pupils.
  • Behavioral: Missed work, changes in friends or hobbies, defensiveness, lying or stealing to get money, low or excessive energy levels, a sudden and drastic drop in grades, or increased trouble with the law.
  • Emotional: Excessive crying, easily irritated, depression, anxiety, paranoia, or mood swings.
  • Relational: Inability to hold conversations, isolation, or violent and often irrational arguments.

These are just a few of the signs that someone is struggling with addiction. On their own, those signs could be symptoms of just about anything. When there is a combination of them, however, chances are greater than they are symptoms of addiction.

You’ve Tried Everything

You would do just about anything to help your loved one through this difficult time. In fact, families,

  • Stage interventions.
  • Have conversation after conversation, often with idol threats.
  • Spend life savings on rehabs and legal fees.
  • Complete abstinence from interaction with their loved one.

We have discovered that these techniques do not work. In fact, they often send their loved one deeper into addiction.

Have You Heard about Now Sober Family?

Your loved one doesn’t need help suffering. They are doing that wonderfully on their own. What they do need is hope. What they need is a connection with people who love and can support them.

You are the perfect person to give it.

Now Sober Family is the perfect program to help.

Our program bases its methods on CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). CRAFT research shows that it has the best treatment entry rates of any other program available. Additionally, studies show that when the CRAFT model is applied, people with substance use disorder sustain sobriety longer.

Now Sober Family Is for You If…

Addiction is difficult for everyone involved–not just the person with substance use disorder. It puts a lot of strain on the families who fight to get their loved one back, the children who feel left behind, and the partners who are trying to hold everything together.

Through all this, the stigma that surrounds addiction keeps the families in isolation as they do their best to keep the secret in order to avoid whispers from people on the outside. Families are told to turn their backs, practice tough love, and send them to rehab. Fix the addict and the problem will go away.

It doesn’t work. In fact, studies show that…

  • Families in Al-Anon help their loved ones get into treatment 13% percent of the time.
  • Family Interventions help their loved ones get into treatment 30% percent of the time.
  • Families using CRAFT help their loved ones get into treatment 64% percent of the time.

Currently, CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) is the best know method for recovery help. That’s why we base our Now Sober Family program on it.

How Now Sober Family Does This

Now Sober Family believes that the opposite of addiction is connection. Unfortunately, the first thing that a person does when they start using drugs or alcohol is disconnect from everyone around them. This includes their family, friends, and even themselves. In fact, it’s common for someone with substance use disorder to disconnect from their own values, favorite activities, and spirituality.

There is no place better to start the reconnection needed to embrace sobriety than with the people who love them most.

And the best way to do that is to build understanding and communication while removing shame and judgment. We do this using the CRAFT method to teach you and your family,

  • Better communication skills.
  • How to give positive reinforcement while letting natural consequences be the villain.
  • To understand your loved one’s behaviors.
  • How to offer support without enabling negative behaviors.

As we say in Al-Anon, “You didn’t cause it. You can’t control it. You can’t cure it. But that doesn’t mean you are completely helpless. And there is no better time to start working towards connection than today. Here’s how Now Sober Family can help.

Pillar 1

Help the Person with Substance Use

We work with the person struggling with substance use disorder to help them understand their addiction, the benefits they get from it, and the greater benefits that come with sobriety. Then we give them the tools they need to help with the cravings and triggers that keep them returning for more. Finally, we address their self-esteem and help them see their worth, so they can build confidence to reach for their dreams instead of the bottle or drugs.

Pillar 2

Educate the Sober Family

Change often starts with the sober family, but only when the family is willing to make a change. Everyone is affected by one person’s drug use. The family has to deal with worry about their loved one’s dangerous activities, legal troubles, and disruptive behaviors.

They want to fix their loved one but often don’t understand that the best way to do that starts with understanding why people in addiction do what they do and interacting with them in a way that doesn’t push them deeper into their addiction. We help the sober family do that.

Pillar 3

Bring Whole Family Back Together

The most important part is reconnecting the whole family. To be honest, this doesn’t always happen. Unfortunately, it takes cooperation from everyone to do this. However, the tools we provide give you the best chance of doing this.

We teach you and your loved one how to communicate so that everyone feels heard, how to set boundaries and respect other people’s boundaries, and how to stay connected with other family members who may feel left out because of all the attention going to the person with the substance use disorder.

Group Coaching

So much relief comes when you discover that there are other people who are going through the same experiences as you. That’s why we recommend group coaching. More importantly, it’s easier to learn about yourself when it is packaged in other people’s experiences.

Our group coaching package takes groups of 10-15 people through a program that teaches them to connect with their loved one through understanding and communication.

Now Sober Academy

Both Vince and Jeanna have maintained their sobriety with the help of a community that supports them and helps them learn about their addiction. The benefits they have gained through their community have been invaluable.

That’s why they created Now Sober Academy, a membership program that offers all the benefits of group coaching,  standalone courses and community connection while being affordable enough for most budgets.

Courses

Our courses provide sober families with the information families need to best help their loved one with substance use disorder without the long-term commitment of Now Sober Academy, but with the convenience of learning in your home and on your time.

Whether you prefer to take our full signature course or a more topic-focused course, we are sure you will see the benefits that come with learning how to support your loved one.
