Charlene Madden joins this episode of Back Porch Chats to share her story of childhood sexual violence, domestic abuse, mental illness, and suicide ideation. Listen as Vince and Jeanna have an open and authentic discussion to help remove some of the stigmas that surround those topics.
Charlene is a mother of 3 children, wife, daughter, and reiki practitioner. She is also the creator of the Ignite Your Life BC Women’s Workshop, speaker, author, and women’s empowerment coach.
Charlene has spent most of her life living in a state of darkness. She experienced over nine years of sexualized trauma from her grandfather and a decade of domestic violence. Her experiences resulted in over three decades of mental illness and suicidal ideology. Only two days away from taking her life, she attended a women’s workshop where everything changed. Because of that experience, she took off her blinders and began the healing process. That’s when Charlene found her purpose by turning her mess into a message of hope, evolution, and transformation. She now shares this message with people all over the world.
Episode Highlights:
- How she ended up in hands of a sexual predator.
- Acting out as a teen and young adult
- Dealing with her emotional pain with self-mutalation.
- Living with suicidal thoughts and attempts to end her life.
- Having a spiritual awakening and beginning her journey to recovery.
